UNE PETITE BLAGUE
25 MAR 24
"Iliria," you might be asking, "why the hell are you trying to code a blog from scratch instead of using any of the hundreds of websites that are begging, desperately, to make a blog for you?"
Well, first you have to understand: I have a bad personality. Despite my best efforts, it seems to have taken root, so we're all stuck with it.
"Iliria, are you writing this blog post straight into the HTML file of this page, like someone with terrible digital hygiene?" you might also be asking.
Because of the personality thing, and also because I have the excuse of never having taken a web design class in my life, I'm afraid to tell you the answer is yes. (I actually don't even know if this is verboten, or if this is is what "digital hygiene" refers to; I'm just assuming it is, based on the kinds of things I've heard my CS students moan about.) (To be clear, I'm not teaching them CS; I'm teaching them about writing, for all my sins.) (In fact, sometimes they teach me about CS, if they're so inclined.)
The gift of making your own strange little corner of the internet, of course, is that there's no need for it to be replicable. Why create a highly functional, well-operating directory based on JS and React when I can simply wing it? No one's firing up this baby but me, after all, and I still can't remember what API stands for!
Well, that seems like enough self-deprecating humor that I'm not monetizing via some free speech absolutist ("absolutist") newsletter platform, huh? Let's see if we can add a tag to this entry, or what.

This is also an entry about teaching. No, really! It is! I swear!
